If you've ever asked
"Am I just applying a bandaid?"
then this program is for you.
Our culture as well as many of our helping professions are based upon changing and addressing the external symptoms. From traditional therapy and weight loss programs to our current medical approach to health, the attention is on symptoms – not the root of the imbalance. While many practitioners desire to help their clients or patients, most were trained in systems that compartmentalize and superficially treat a person.
The Vitalist School is for practitioners who are tired of giving “suggestions." It's for those who are done hearing the same story on repeat without significant change. This is for practitioners who are as dedicated to their own growth, healing and deep work as to their clients' transformation. This course helps lay out the maps of psychological and spiritual healing as well as providing practitioners with tools to assist their clients in digging deeply to discover the origin of their disconnection from self.
Courses are held one weekend per month for eight months. We'll gather Friday evening from 6-9 p.m. and continue Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Find a detailed description of each course here.
Who Should Apply
This program is as relevant for individuals seeking personal transformation as it is for those working with groups or one-on-one with clients or patients, like counselors, naturopaths, herbalists, psychologists, psychiatrists, life coaches, massage therapists, energy workers, bodyworkers, etc.
While this program has been written and designed for practitioners, it is not essential that you are a practitioner. Most skills learned are applicable to family or friends, and anyone taking the course will have an opportunity to do their own transformative work due to the nature of the content. Please fill out the application, and let us know why you want to take the course even if you are not studying to be or are currently in practice.
Micah McLaughlin is the founder of the Vitalist School of Psychospiritual Transformation. In his work based in traditional naturopathy, he discovered that in order to get to the true root of health, it is crucial to help humans get back to their true self. He has worked over the past decade incorporating tools of psychology, spirituality and somatic therapy as a process of leading his clients back to their own innate freedom.
Micah was trained at the Naturopathic Institute of Therapies and Education and founded Continuum Healing in 2008. He further studied western herbalism, somatic coaching and the Enneagram, deepening his passion to treat the whole person. In 2015, he co-founded the Wellness Collective in Grand Rapids, MI and continues to assist clients, students and practitioners in their transformational work.

"As a chiropractor working with energy, I have had glimpses of being present and having cool things happen when I work with patients. However, I still felt like I was "working", and as a result, felt tired. Working with Micah, I have been able to be more spontaneous, and able to stay in my core and listen to what my patient needs, rather than what I usually do. As a result, I feel more of a sense of playing and am less tired. My patients are responding and enjoying the sessions as well. Micah has been the right practitioner for me to help become liberated and enlightened while working. He is an excellent role model for how to do it."

"I began working with Micah a few years ago. At that point in my life, I had been experiencing acute pain in my body for about a year and had been through two unsuccessful surgeries with a third on the way - with no hope of a better outcome. To say I was frustrated with traditional health care professionals was an understatement. All I knew was I couldn't continue to deal with the level of physical pain any longer and I needed to approach healing differently. When I first met Micah, I immediately noticed his presence. I felt heard and understood in a way I hadn't experienced before. What started off as my desire for physical healing went far beyond that. Micah's intuitive and holistic approach in preparing me for surgery allowed my body to begin to heal. Within 3 weeks post-op, I noticed a huge difference - I no longer experienced pain. It became clear to me in working with Micah that for physical healing to take place there was also a need to work on healing my mind, emotions and spirit. Regardless of what came up during our appointments, Micah held space for me and I was able to safely explore that a lot of how I showed up for my life up to that point was not showing up at all - but rather in fearful, self-sabotaging ways. Micah utilized various modalities I hadn't experienced before; intuition, holistic/mindfulness counseling, breath work, muscle testing, working with the Jo, and the list goes on and on - all of which have resulted in a tailored, transformative journey that has allowed me to show up for my life in a more aligned and authentic way. I am incredibly thankful for Micah's kind intuitive and playful spirit, insight, dedication, guidance and passion - for without it, my journey from caterpillar to butterfly would not have been complete." – Kathy Julien
